The strategic guide issued by the Chief of Naval Operation of the US Navy Admiral Lisa Franchetti (equivalent to our Chief of Naval Staff) was released a few days ago. The new Navigation Plan aims to further develop the combat capability of the US Navy. The Plan envisages that the suggested changes will be achieved by 2027, a date indicated as the possible start of a hot conflict with the Chinese Navy.
In fact, the proposed Plan represents a strategic indication on future actions to be undertaken to optimize the effectiveness of the Navy as a whole and therefore has implications and influences that the other NATO navies cannot overlook. The last Navigation Plan was published in 2022 and represented the desire of the then CNO Admiral Mike Gilday to communicate the objectives that the US Navy should pursue at a time of great changes
represented above all by the beginning of the war in Ukraine, but also of progressive tension with
China.
